Singapore 1 night, Hanoi 3 nights, Halong Bay Junk Cruise 1 night, Overnight Train 1 night, Hue 2 night, Hoi An 3 nights & Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) 3 nights.
Enjoy a cyclo ride around Hanoi's charming Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake, here you'll find local markets, bargains galore and cafes waiting to serve you tasty treats, explore Hanoi further when we visit One Pillar Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Museum of Ethnology and the beautiful Temple of Literature, spend a relaxing night aboard a wooden sailing Junk in the calm enchanting waters of Halong Bay, explore the limestone formations, swim in the warm jade waters, relax on the sun deck & dine on scrumptious seafood, then its off for a bit of adventure on the overnight train from Hanoi to Hue, check out how the locals travel while enjoying the rural scenery roll by, in Hue we dive deeper into Vietnam's rich history, culture & traditions, cruise along the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, the Imperial Citadel and Tu Duc Tomb, onto Hoi An via the Hai Van Pass and Lang Co Beach fishing village, in Hoi An we stay at a beautiful riverside resort, to take in the lovely calm atmosphere and really enjoy some holiday time, here we will enjoy a fantastic cooking class learning all about Vietnamese cuisine, having tailored clothes made to fit is big on the list of things to do here, as is taking a leisurely bicycle ride around the local rice paddy fields, fishing villages and out to the white sandy beaches for a refreshing swim, Hoi An has a happening cafe scene, so you'll be sure to sample an array of Vietnamese specialises, there's also plenty of time to enjoy a Day Spa treatment (or two) and relax by the pool, we then fly down to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), visiting the War Remnants Museum, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and the impressive Saigon Post Office, before settling into our gorgeous hotel overlooking the bustling Saigon River, a day exploring the mighty Mekong Delta is always a highlight and offers a close-up look at local life, and a final day for shopping in Saigon, fill up those suitcases, from local markets to high-end fashions stores I'm sure you'll be tempted, there's also the opportunity to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, before heading out for our farewell cocktail party & dinner!!
Day 1 AUCKLAND - SINGAPORE
1:35 pm, Depart Auckland on flight SQ286 to Singapore.
7:25 pm, Arrive in Singapore.
Overnight accommodation in Singapore, airport hotel.
Day 2 SINGAPORE - HANOI (B/D)
Connect to our onward Singapore Airlines flight to Hanoi.
9:50 am, Depart Singapore on flight SQ176 to Hanoi.
12:20 pm, Arrive in Hanoi.
We will be met on arrival into Hanoi and transferred to the hotel.
Accommodation for 3 nights at Hong Ngoc 1 Hotel in Superior Rooms including breakfast daily. Our hotel is in a excellent location in the Old Quarter.
This evening we will enjoy a cyclo ride around the lake area, ending at our restaurant for this evening. Welcome dinner is included this evening.
Day 3 HANOI (B)
This morning we will visit One Pillar Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Museum of Ethnology & beautiful Temple of Literature.
We will then enjoy lunch (own cost) at a nearby cafe.
Afternoon at leisure or for independent activities.
Day 4 HANOI (B)
Morning at leisure or for independent activities.
This afternoon enjoy the famous water puppet show, a great performance of short stories and legends played out to traditional music.
Day 5 HANOI - HALONG (B/L/D)
We will be collected from our hotel in the morning and transferred to Halong Bay for our overnight Junk experience.
Arriving Halong Bay, board our sailing Junk to discover this World Heritage site, known as the ‘land of 3000 islands'. Rising from the sea the islands offer a wealth of opportunity for the local people. Our visit includes exploring the beauty of this area close up. We will enjoy a seafood lunch and a swim (weather permitting). In the afternoon, visit a grotto before dropping anchor for the night in Halong Bay.
Our lunch and dinner will be on board the Junk and these are included. Alternatives available if you don't eat seafood.
Day 6 HALONG - HANOI - HUE (B/D)
Enjoy the sunrise in Halong Bay. Early morning tea/coffee is served on board the Junk before we visit Luon Cave on small bamboo boat. Return to the Junk and continue the cruise to see Man's Head Island and Tortoise Island.
A brunch is served on board before we disembark from the Junk around noon as the Junk sails back to the pier. After cruise, disembark from the Junk and leave for Hanoi, stopping enroute at Dong Trieu ceramics factory.
Arrive Hanoi and proceed to train station for overnight train to Hue. Packed dinner prepared in Hanoi will be given to you before the train leaves.
7:00 pm , Depart on overnight train (in 4-berth sleeper cabins).
Day 7 HUE (B/D)
8:12 am, Arrive Hue in the morning, where we will be met and transferred to our Hotel. Rooms and breakfast will be available on arrival.
Accommodation for 2 night at the Hotel Pilgrimage Village in Villa Deluxe Rooms including breakfast daily and early check-in.
The rest of the morning is at leisure to enjoy the hotels facilities. Perhaps participate in a Yoga or Tai Chi class or treat yourself to a treatment at Vedana Spa........
This afternoon visit the elaborate tombs of Emperor Khai Dinh & Tu Duc.
Tonight we will enjoy dinner at the hotel (included).
Day 8 HUE (B)
Today visit the Imperial Citadel and Dong Ba market. Later proceed to the elegant Thien Mu Pagoda to witness a daily Buddhist prayer recital by the monks before enjoying a cruise on the Perfume River.
Afternoon at leisure to explore this historical town on your own.
Day 9 HUE - DANANG - HOI AN (B/D)
After breakfast, leave by road for Hoi An, driving along the coast through emerald-green paddy fields and over the spectacular Hai Van Pass and a stop at Lang Co for a visit to the fishing village.
Arrive in Hoi An and proceed for an orientation walking tour of the charming town of Hoi An, visiting the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, ancient merchants' houses, Phuc Kien Pagoda and the colourful local market.
Accommodation for 3 nights at the Hoi An Riverside Resort in Standard River View Rooms including breakfast daily.
Tonight we will enjoy dinner at the hotel (included).
Day 10 HOI AN (B/D)
Day at leisure or to explore town on own.
Optional: Morning tour of the extraordinary ruins of My Son in a remote jungle valley. My Son was formerly the centre of the Cham Kingdom and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Hoi An is renown for tailor made clothes. Have a whole new
wardrobe made to measure!
This evening we will learn to cook local Vietnamese food at a deliciously tasty cooking class held at Morning Glory Restaurant.
Day 11 HOI AN (B)
Day at leisure or to explore town on own.
Optional: Morning trip to Cham Island to enjoy snorkelling or diving.
Day 12 HOI AN - HO CHI MINH CITY (B)
We will be met at our hotel this morning and transferred to Danang airport in time for our onward flight to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
8:30 am, Depart Danang on Vietnam Airlines flight VN1309 to Saigon
9:40 am, Arrive Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City.
On arrival at Saigon airport we will be taken for an orientation tour of Saigon visiting the War Remnants Museum, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Post Office.
After the tour, proceed to the hotel and check-in.
Accommodation for 3 nights at the Majestic Hotel in Colonial City Deluxe Rooms (Old Wing) including breakfast daily.
Rest of the day at leisure or for independent activities.
Day 13 MEKONG DELTA DAY TRIP (B/L)
This morning, after breakfast, depart Ho Chi Minh City for a scenic morning drive to Mekong Delta, stopping en route at the ornate Cao Dai Temple in Ben Luc. From Cai Be, take a boat trip along the mighty Mekong River and its tributaries to view the daily lives of people who work and play on the waterways of the Mekong Delta. The trip includes a visit to the unique "floating" market at Cai Be, and to a family-run business producing rice paper - a key ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine.
Lunch is on an island mid-river, in a local house set amongst fruit orchards and bonsai trees and then followed by a performance of traditional Vietnamese music.
Return to Ho Chi Minh City in late afternoon.
Day 14 HO CHI MINH CITY (B/D)
This morning explore Cu Chi area, an amazing complex of underground bunkers and tunnel systems. During the US War they served as shelter, storage facilities and secret means of communication for the guerrilla army.
Afternoon at leisure to explore this city on your own.
This evening we will enjoy our Farewell Dinner and a fun night out.
Day 15 HO CHI MINH CITY-SINGAPORE-AUCKLAND (B)
This morning we will be collected from our hotel and transferred to the airport in time for our Singapore Airlines flight to Singapore.
1:00 pm, Depart Ho Chi Minh City on flight SQ173.
4:00 pm, Arrive in Singapore.
Optional: Extend your stay in Singapore.
On arrival, proceed in transit to board our onward Singapore Airways flight to Auckland.
8:40 pm, Depart Singapore on flight SQ285.
Day 16 AUCKLAND
11:30 pm, Arrive Auckland. Tour Ends.
