  • Tropical Yoga Retreat - Bon Ton Resort- Women Only HolidayThe 2011 Tropical Retreat ladies are back from an amazing time in Malaysia. Here's a little insight into their experience:

Mid October 2011: Seven totally relaxed, lightly tanned, women returned from Travel VUDA's ‘Inaugural Malaysian Tropical Retreat' ... their bags filled with unique Malaysian treasures & bargain buys. The memories linger of candlelit poolside dinners & the sounds of the waves lapping on a deserted tropical island beach.

Why are they so relaxed I hear you ask! Well, can you picture this? We arrive at Langkawi Island's unique BonTon resort ... coconut palms surround the Tropical Yoga Retreat - Welcome Dinner Temple Tree - Women Only Holidayindividually decorated traditional Malay Villas, the Villas in turn surround the pool. The pool is inviting with white sun loungers and umbrellas ... but first - a Welcome Cocktail in a lovely spot catching the afternoon breeze. We sit around the table admiring the colourful décor, sipping our cocktails. This lovely spot is, in fact, where the relaxed ‘hotel check-in' process takes place. "What are those beautiful yellow birds over there by the wetland? Can you see them? Tropical Yoga Retreat - Beach Day Langkawi Island- Women Only HolidayCan you hear them."

Five luxurious days in this Tropical Island paradise are spread out in front of us. Boat trips, Cooking School, Aromatherapy Massage, Reflexology, some relaxing Yoga with Dorothy Ang - our patient and kind yoga instructor from Langkawi Yoga. Oh, did I mention FOOD? Something different to taste and experience for every meal: lunch over the water at a fishing village, sampling different foods at Tropical Yoga Retreat - Beach Yoga - Women Only HolidayHawker Markets, Indian cuisine, Chinese cuisine, being served simple Malaysian fare on a deserted tropical island beach by 2 attentive blokes. And a first class Malaysian banquet at BonTon's Nam restaurant.

As the organiser and host of this Tropical Retreat, I was particularly grateful to hear one of the women comment on just the 2nd day "I can't believe how Tropical Yoga Retreat - Calm and Relaxing - Women Only Holidayrelaxed I'm already feeling".  We were also able to fit some shopping in on most days while at Langkawi Island! Even with a little time spent around the pool on those inviting white sun loungers.

On to Kuala Lumpur, the main shopping attraction of the trip. KL's Central Market proved the most popular shopping place, with some of the women returning several times to grab those unique purchases. KL's modern and Tropical Yoga Retreat - Shopping Central Market KL - Women Only Holidayhuge ‘Mega Malls' were also well patronised ... the variety of shoes to choose from was particularly commented on.  And did we find wonderful food in KL? Oh yes - plenty of mouth watering variety to choose from ... yummy Satay or Prawn Laksa? Kway Teow or Mee Goreng? Perhaps a simple Nasi Ayam (Chicken Rice) - choices, choices !!

Yes, choices - that's Malaysia. A unique mix of 3 cultures - Malay, Indian & Tropical Yoga Retreat - Night Markets Langkawi Island- Women Only HolidayChinese. Beautiful people, beautiful places, beautiful food - arrrrrhh, relax!

  • Travel VUDA - Sydney & Beyond - Blue Mountains I’ve recently had the awesome opportunity to join a Tourism New South Wales agent’s familiarisation trip.  The itinerary read something along the lines of; Bush walking in the iconic Blue Mountains, a caving adventure at the spectacular Jenolan Caves, wine and dine in the Hunter Valley and shopping up a storm in Sydney (well I just added in the last bit).  Pick me! Pick Me!  Which they did (yay), and there I was on a plane to one of the most famous cities in the world.  Reminiscing about my last visit to Sydney I realise its nearly been 10 years since I was last there, on a 3 day flying visit with some friends, on my way to London doing my big OE.  So I figure this trip is long overdue – not that I need an excuse!
